Laura is the Data Discovery Librarian & UX Designer for the Arcus Program at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Research Institute. Arcus includes a multidisciplinary team of librarians, archivists, data scientists, bioinformaticians, developers, clinicians, geneticists, and educators that investigate new solutions for data sharing, data preservation, and data reuse and reproducibility. The Arcus team links clinical encounter data with medical research data, and builds self-service discovery tools that allow researchers to explore the data. Arcus also builds custom computational workspaces that allow researchers to analyze the data in a secure and privacy compliant environment.

Laura is responsible for the applications and services that provide unified searching, browsing, and discovery of the Arcus data. As part of this, she focuses on user experience design and assessment principles to establish and maintain solutions that meet the emerging needs of CHOP researchers and staff.
